## **Well-Rounded Won't Get You In: A High School Strategy for Elite Admissions**

### What You’ll Learn:

The strongest applications take four years to build, not one. Elite committees have moved past well-rounded; what stands out now is a focused, specialized profile. Heather, a Dartmouth Former Admissions Officer, breaks down how to build one.

- **Course Selection:** A transcript that proves academic curiosity, not just a high GPA.
- **Extracurricular Depth:** Turning activities into evidence of leadership and specialized talent.
- **The Well-Pointed Profile:** Moving from well-rounded to specialized in the way committees notice.
- **Summer Strategy:** Using breaks to build real impact, not filler.

## **Heather**

## **Dartmouth Former Admissions Officer**

Heather spent years reading applications inside the Dartmouth College admissions office, where she saw exactly which high school choices add up to a standout candidacy and which fall flat. That vantage point lets her help students build profiles with intention from freshman year forward, rather than scrambling to assemble one as a senior. She is also the mother of three Ivy League graduates, giving her a rare view from both sides of the process: the admissions office and the family living it.

Where Heather's Students Have Been Admitted:

Stanford · Harvard · Yale · Princeton · Columbia · Brown · Dartmouth · Cornell · Duke · UChicago
