Why the Interview Is Different
Transcripts can be compared. Test scores can be measured. Essays can be edited until every sentence is precise. In a 30-minute interview, an admissions officer is not grading whether an answer is "correct." They are listening for whether a real conversation is actually happening.
Your Student Will:
Sit for a real 30-minute mock interview with a Former Admissions Officer from a top boarding or independent school
Hear the officer's honest first impression
Receive a written report covering what worked well, areas for growth, and specific points to adjust
Walk into the real interview as a person, not a set of prepared answers
Participating Former Admissions Officers
Our Former Admissions Officers have worked inside the admissions offices of top boarding and independent schools, personally reviewed thousands of real applications, and sat on the other side of the interview table making real admit-or-deny decisions.
-
Chris: Choate Rosemary Hall, The Putney School, and Dartmouth Tuck Former Admissions Officer
-
Mark: Collegiate School and Cheshire Academy Former Admissions Officer; Kent School alumnus
-
Will: Suffield Academy Former Admissions Officer and alumnus
-
Angie: St. Paul's School Former Admissions Officer
Will and Mark bring an even fuller perspective. Before they ever evaluated an applicant, they lived the boarding school experience themselves: the dorm, the classroom, and an interview of their own that shaped where they ended up. Having been both the student and the officer is something most interview coaching simply can't offer.

Most Mock Interviews Aren't Modeling the Admissions Officer
Every application season, families do everything they can to prepare for the interview. They work with a tutor, rehearse with a consultant, and run through likely questions at home until every answer feels polished. But here is something every admissions officer knows: the smoother the answer, the more it can work against the student.
An overly polished answer is often the easiest thing to spot, precisely because it sounds like something any applicant could say, and not like something this particular student would say. Most interview coaching is run by consultants or tutors who know what to ask. What they can't fully replicate is what an admissions officer is really listening for the moment an answer comes back, and why it matters. That gap is easy to overlook, and it is often the part that decides the outcome.
