Emily Parliman is a Former Admissions Officer at InGenius Prep, where she worked as the Assistant Director of Candidacy Building. Emily received her bachelor's degree from Kenyon College, where she majored in English. Giving campus tours and interviewing prospective students as a student worker, she became interested in admissions. Following graduation she moved to Washington, DC, and started her career in education. Emily spent several years in graduate/business school admissions at The George Washington University and received her master's degree in Higher Education Administration from GW. She then moved into undergraduate admissions at American University. Following her role at American, Emily read applications for the University of California Berkeley, and has served as an alumni interviewer for her alma mater, Kenyon. For several years she has read applications for Northeastern University.

For 6 years, she worked as a college counselor at independent schools in DC, California, and Ohio. Besides meeting with students individually, she taught a college counseling class which introduced students to the nuts and bolts of the admission process. Over her career, Emily has read thousands of applications and learned how selective universities make admission decisions. She’s helped students apply to universities in the US, the UK, Canada, and elsewhere around the globe, with impressive results.

At InGenius Prep, Emily oversees our Candidacy Building services – everything from curriculum to training to delivery. She has overseen work with hundreds of our students around the world as well as worked with students directly over the years. She is exceptionally well-suited to help students discover their interests, build their resumes, and stand out from the competition.
