Ken Johnson, Former Admissions Officer, Emory University

Ken received my undergraduate degree from Emory University where He majored in Philosophy. He worked in the admissions office for his alma mater, reading thousands of undergraduate applications, conducting interviews, and working with students and their families. Ken received a MA in International Relations and PhD in Political Science from Tulane University.

Besides teaching political science in American universities, he have taught economics and business administration courses such as Leadership and Career Management, while living and working in China. While in China, he wrote and published two books aimed at Chinese students: Self-Marketing for Career Success and Study in the USA and Job Search. In both books, he emphasize the holistic development of student in their educational development. Finally, he has taught English as a Second Language to students of all ages from a dozen different countries.

In all his roles as a teacher, Ken is known for his ability to encourage students to dream big and to coach them how to turn dreams into reality by setting realistic and specific measurable goals. He likes to help students create and complete a step-by step strategy that enables them to transform their vision into reality. Ken views the college application process is a critical juncture in one’s lifelong career journey that opens new vistas and opportunities.
