Meet Your Host:

Roscoe Nicholson, Former Graduate Student Admissions Counselor,  University of Chicago
Former International Applications Reader,  University of Chicago

Hello everyone! I worked in undergraduate admissions at the University of Chicago from 2008 to 2011, which included a focus on international applications due to my time spent living in Japan, China and India. In addition to this undergraduate admissions work, I have also been involved in reviewing applications for the University of Chicago’s Master of Arts Program in Social Sciences. I also advised humanities University of Chicago students applying to medical school through the University of Chicago’s Careers in Health Professions office, which included offering feedback on all applicants’ personal statements. I also have experience advising undergraduate and graduate students through my work for the University of Chicago’s Department of Comparative Human Development, Career Advising and Planning Services and Master of Arts Program in Social Sciences. I also taught Academic and Professional Writing to undergraduates, graduate students and professionals for 6 years, graded MCAT essays, and trained medical school applicants on writing MCAT essays. My academic journey has also given me considerable experience in the humanities (religious studies), bioscience (neuroscience) and social sciences (anthropology, sociology and psychology).

My favorite part of college admissions consulting is helping students channel their passions in ways that will help them stand out for an admissions department, and working with students to help them tell their stories in ways that can highlight their distinctiveness and fit for the schools to which they apply.
